Andantex USA is the one stop supplier for linear & rotary axes gearboxes, racks & pinions ANDANTEX equipment is installed on all axes creating a unique responsibility in the global mechanical machine behaviour.

The barrel rotation axis drives the tool that the carbon fiber is being placed onto. This tool is typically made of invar which is a type of steel with a very low thermal expansion rate. This is important because once the part is made; the whole assembly is put into an autoclave and baked to be sure the impregnated carbon fibre will cure into its final state. After that the tool is removed and the remaining part is completely made of carbon fibre. 4 KRP size 6 enable the accurate rotation:

1) Max. Rotational Speed: 81 RPM. 2) Nominal rotational speed: 25 RPM. 3) Peak Torque: 6600 NM. 4) Configuration: (2) Twin Drives/axis.

X axis is equipped with 4 planetary reducers KRP size 6, the largest size available in the REDEX ANDANTEX range. They mesh with two 35 m long racks:

1) Linear Speed = 51 M/min. (2000 in/min). 2) Mass = 160 ton (175 tons US. 3) Acceleration = 0.2 g. 4) Configuration: (2) TwinDRIVES/axis.

Y-axis is equipped with 2 SRP planetary reducers in a TwinDRIVE configuration. They are mounted on 5.5m of rack:

1)
Linear Speed = 53M/min. (2450 In/min.). 2) Mass = 14.3 tons (15.7 tons US). 3) Acceleration = 0.2 g. 4) Configuration: (1) TwinDRIVE/axis.

For secondary encoder feedback on X-axis and Y-axis, Electroimpact also uses Andantex´s PDP or ´Split pinion´ to drive the encoder directly from the rack with ZERO-BACKLASH. This cost-effective solution is the first generation of "Preloaded Double Pinion" for high-precision rack and pinion applications. The PDP is made of 2 ground WMH pinions, each ½ the width of the rack, connected together through a patented preload system to eliminate the rack and pinion mesh backlash. (** PDP picture **) PDP innovative concept provides encoder feedback directly from the rack providing high positioning accuracy and repeatability with a very competitive budget:

1) X-Axis Mod. 10, Circ. = 500 mm. 2) Y-Axis Mod. 5, Circ. = 250 mm.

Finally, Andantex provided Electroimpact modules 10 & 5 helical, hardened and ground rack for the X and Y axis along with polyurethane foam lubrication pinions to automatically relubricate the racks. The racks are provided in 1 (or 2) meter sections and designed to be linked end to end to create the required length for the axis. This means that Andantex can provide all of the mechanical components in between the servo-motor and the axis.

"At the end, the placement precision is equal to the cutting precision (+/- 0.050») at maximum speed. The axis driven by the Redex Andantex reducers must be more precise than this value since they are all working together to form a complex shape. We can estimate the X-Axis, Y and Z-Axis precision to be 1/10 of the placement precision or +/- 0.005» (0.0125 mm)", explains Dave REGIEC, ANDANTEX´s project manager.

Limiting high torques reliably:
New torque limiting clutch for heavy engineering

In addition to numerous other innovations, mayr® power transmission is to present a large disengaging torque limiting clutch for torques of up to 280,000 Nm at the Hannover Trade Fair. This large clutch for heavy engineering is combined with curved tooth couplings for the connection of two shafts.

As international market leaders, mayr® power transmission has provided the widest product range of load holding, load disconnecting, torque and force limiting, frictionally locking, positive locking, magnetic, regulatable and switchable torque limiting clutches for decades.

Picture shows: Disengaging EAS®-element clutches for heavy engineering disengage the input and output on overload. The energy from the rotating masses stored in the system can slow down freely.

In spite of this wide range, the company have noticed an increasing demand for new torque limiting clutches with extremely high torques and for application-optimised solutions. For this reason, the performance range of the disengaging EAS®-element clutches has been extended at the time of the Hannover Trade Fair in 2011. The latest design with curved tooth couplings for the connection of two shafts is designed for torques of up to 280,000 Nm.

EAS®-element clutches transfer the torque using positive locking during normal operation. On overload, they separate the input and output nearly residual torque-free with a high switch-off and repeat accuracy. The kinetic energy from the rotating masses stored in the system can slow down freely. Such disengaging clutches do not automatically re-engage. They remain disengaged until they are re-engaged either manually or via mechanical or hydraulic devices.

For 30 years, disengaging EAS®-element clutches have been protecting systems and drives in heavy engineering against expensive overload damage. Our decades of experience and the collective, comprehensive know-how make mayr® power transmission your ideal partner for mechanical overload protection in drives with extremely high torques, high speeds and large mass moments of inertia.

ProSoft Technology industrial 802.11n
radios use a removable memory card to
save and manage radio configuration settings

Now included in all RadioLinx IHN (industrial 802.11n) from ProSoft Technology, a new »Personality» specification automatically stores and loads radio-configurations. This functionality is appreciated for saving and managing radio configuration settings.

The Automation-class RadioLinx IHN series (industrial 802.11n) now comes with a Personality feature. This new feature automatically stores and loads radio configurations. It consists of an industrial-grade SD (Secured Digital) memory card and the ability given to the radio to read/write configuration information from/to that card.

From the user point-of-view, the typical benefits include:
1) Manage and distribute multiple configuration profiles. This is a great functionality for machine builders as they need to replicate multiple systems using the same settings. 2) Increased uptime of the network. 3) Easier backup and maintenance of radio configurations. 4) Damage recovery (a failed radio site shortly brings back into operation). In the event of a failure, the

Personality feature allows loading configuration quickly into a replacement radio. The SD card can be removed from a radio that is no longer operational and inserted into a new radio (no computer required), or an archived configuration can be copied to an SD memory card and inserted into the new radio. When a radio configuration is completed and saved (and an SD card present in the RadioLinx), the radio writes the new configuration to the Personality card.

The radio is able to function normally with or without a Personality card. When it is powered on, the radio first checks presence of an SD card which contains a configuration; if so the radio copies the settings from the SD card to its internal flash memory. Otherwise, it uses the configuration already installed in its memory. This is a standard feature in all models of the RadioLinx IHN series (Industrial 802.11n) from ProSoft Technology.
